Nathaniel Teen Angel

Out now: Here

Excerpt

Humming to herself, Eloise walked back into the lounge room with a tray of steaming drinks. As she placed it on the coffee table, she smiled. “There you go” she said, handing him a mug.”
Holding the handle, he sniffed the aroma. “Mm, it sure smells good.”

“It’s hot, so don’t burn your lips.”

After blowing into the cup, he took a small sip. “Wow, it tastes even better than it smells.”
For some reason she burst into giggles, then she sucked in her cheeks as if to stop herself. “Okay, now close your eyes and open your mouth.”

He raised a brow. “Oh, I see. You’re going to give me some horrible medicine for my pain, aren’t you?”

She shook her head. “No, I’m not. Come on, Nathaniel, do what I said.”

“Oh, all right.” Closing his eyes, he opened his mouth and waited to see what she was up to.

Chuckling, she placed a small hard square on his tongue. “Now don’t speak until you’ve finished it.”

Guessing it was a sweet he’d seen humans eat, he rolled it around his mouth. Mmm, it tasted wonderful and was much more delectable than he imagined it to be. As it melted, the flavour increased and he sucked on its essence, savouring every sticky morsel as it stuck to his teeth and trickled down his throat. It wasn’t anything like the chewing gum she’d given him. That had a fresh sharp taste, but this was soft and warm like the hot drink he’d just tasted. It was certainly giving him an immense sensation of pleasure. After swallowing the last bit, he opened his eyes and licked his lips. Whatever it was, it left a wonderful aftertaste in his mouth. He smiled. “Mmm, that was good. What was it?”

She looked at him oddly as if she was trying to read his thoughts. Uh-oh, Now what had he done? He blew out a breath. Human girls were hard to figure out sometimes.

“It was chocolate,” she said, tossing him the rest of the bar. “Enjoy it. I’ll be back in a minute.”

As she ran out the room, he bit a chunk from the bar and waited for it to melt in his mouth. He didn’t know why she was frowning again, but he guessed she was still annoyed with him because he wouldn’t move to Creed Valley. Well, he wasn’t going to let her sulking spoil his enjoyment of the chocolate. It would be the only time in his existence he’d ever have the pleasure to relish such a delight, though he knew he’d trade it in an instant if he could have more time with her. Nothing in the universe was more exciting than holding Eloise in his arms.

Hurrying back, she sat next to him. “It’s good, isn’t it?”

His mouth was still full of the lovely stuff and he rolled his eyes to let her know he was enjoying it. Then he offered her some.

She shook her head. “No, thanks, you eat it.”

Ignoring her, he popped a large piece in her mouth and gave her a sticky grin.

Still giving him an odd look, she moved closer to him and began fiddling with the chain around his neck. Nathaniel, how come you didn’t take your crucifix off when you had a shower? You’re not a priest, are you?”

Swallowing his mouthful of chocolate, he stared at her. “No, I’m not a priest, but I am religious. Don’t you believe in God?”

She shrugged. “Of course I do, but I take my crucifix off in the shower.”

His eyes grew wide. He didn't want her to take it off, not ever. “Why do you do that? You should keep it on for protection.”

“Protection from what?”

From evil, of course.”

“That’s silly and superstitious. I’m not wearing a cross all the time. Sometimes I like to wear a colourful necklace.”

He grabbed her hands. “Eloise, please listen to me. You have to wear your crucifix all the time. Promise me you will.”

After swallowing her piece of chocolate, she licked her lips. “But why?”

He glanced at the ceiling. “Because I worry about you. Please, promise me you’ll wear your stone cross when I’m gone.”

She narrowed her eyes at him. “How do you know I have a stone cross?”

“I ... I guess I saw you wear it.”

Looking deep into his eyes, she ran her fingers through his hair, then traced them down his face to his neck. As he shivered at her touch, she whispered in his ear.

“No, you didn’t, Nathaniel.”

His heart pounding, he held her gaze. What did she mean?

She moved her hands down the hard muscled on his chest and stopped at his waist, sending electricity shooting right to his very core. He sucked in a sharp breath. What on Earth was she doing? Her raging teenage hormones were going to get them both damned to Hell if she didn’t stop. Darn it! She was so frustratingly sensual, he didn’t know how he’d be able to resist her now, no matter what she did to him. Wondering if she’d put something in the chocolate, he gazed into her eyes.

Smiling, she slid her fingers back to his throat and griped the chain around his neck. “Are you really called Nathaniel?”

Fearing she’d break his gold chain, he grabbed her wrist and peeled her fingers away from it. “Of course I am, that’s my name, but why are you asking me?” She was so close, he could feel her soft breath on his face and he had an urge to kiss her, but he wasn’t sure what she was up to.

Leaning over him, she squeezed his shoulders. “Kiss me, Nathaniel, Angel of Fire.”
His chest tightened and his eyes grew wide. She remembered him?

Here is the excerpt from Fallen Angel (Prequel) to Ominous Love.

Eloise gazed up and gasped, "Wow! That's so beautiful. What is it?"

Nathaniel flew to a nearby cloud and set her gently down. "It's actually a shooting star, but you're seeing it up close."

With his arm around her shoulder, they watched as shiny pieces of stardust fell through the sky like raindrops from Heaven. Laughing, Eloise reached out to touch them, but they were too far away. She smiled up at him, her eyes luminous. "I don't know who you are, but I must be having a beautiful dream. I've never seen anything like this in my entire life."

He knew he should take her back to the hospital, but first he wanted to give her something to protect her from Lucifer. She'd obviously lost her crucifix. Picking her up with one arm, he raised the other above his head and rocketed upwards. As she gripped onto his shoulders, he grabbed one of the stardust particles, then swooped down, plummeting below the mist and heading back to Earth.

"I'm a bird," she said, waving her right arm up and down.

Nathaniel smiled. She looked more like an angel than a bird, especially the way her hair was blowing in waves around her face. As they descended beneath the clouds, the vast oceans and city lights came into view.

Wrapping her arms around his neck, Eloise screeched in his ear. "Holy crap! Now I can see how high up we are, I'm really scared. Oh please, don't let me fall."

As she trembled in his arms, Nathaniel pulled her tighter to his chest. "Hey," he said. "I'm an angel. Don't you trust me?"

"This is all so surreal, I don't know what to believe," she said, peeking over her arm, then as they glided towards the beach, she squealed with delight. "Oh, my God, there's Creed Valley. You're taking me home."

Before he had a chance to answer her, she gave him a quick kiss on the mouth. Stunned at her actions, he blinked as a surge of electricity shot from his lips to his toes, making his head spin.

"Watch out!" she screamed. "We're going to drown. What are you doing?"

Snapping back to reality, he was shocked to see they were plummeting at full speed towards the Tasman Sea. Mortified at losing focus again, he propelled himself upwards, only seconds before their feet hit the water. Jesus Christ! What was she doing to him? At this rate, God would burn his wings off before he ever got to Devlin's. Shaking his head, Nathaniel glanced sideways at Eloise, but she was too busy staring down at the swirling ocean to notice his reprimand.

As they reached the lookout, he fluttered gently down and landed on the cliff top. "There you go. Now you're safe," he said, putting her down and furling his wings behind his back. "You're lucky we didn't fall into the sea after what you did to me."

Her brows bunched into a frown. "What do you mean? You're the one that was navigating, not me. I'm not an angel."

He smirked. "Aren't you?" He was tempted to tell her she was the descendant of one after what she'd done to him, but he couldn't do that.

She squinted at him. "Look, why have you brought me here? You're obviously not human and I was supposed to be in the hospital. I feel like I'm wide awake, so I can't be dreaming. Please, you have to tell me the truth. I'm dead, aren't I?"

Looking into her beautiful green eyes, he brushed a stray curl from her forehead. "It's all right, Eloise. You're not dead. You're just having a dream and I'm a figment of your imagination." He hated lying to her, but if he told her the truth, he'd put her life in danger, and he didn't want to scare her.

Folding her arms, she looked him up and down. "I so did not imagine you." Then she bit her lip. "Though you are the sort of boy I dream about."

He jerked as a strange sensation shot through his soul. "Oh? And what sort is that?"

She chuckled into her hand. "Drop-dead gorgeous and sexy."

Fallen Angel (Prequel) to Ominous Love by Patricia Puddle

by
Patricia Puddle

Fallen Angel (Prequel) to Ominous Love
Available on Amazon!

When Devlin arrives late for the birth of Eloise O'Connor, he can't believe his best friend has taken over his position as her guardian angel. Though Devlin pleads with him to hand the child's guardianship back over to him, Nathaniel refuses. The two guardian angels have been friends for thousands of years, but after seeing how tiny and vulnerable the baby is after a difficult birth, Nathaniel isn't willing to risk her life with a tardy, irresponsible angel. Devlin's new obsession with fallen angels and sexy women seem to be affecting his judgment and Nathaniel believes he's planning to sell his soul, which would put Eloise's life in even more danger.
Outraged, Devlin accuses Nathaniel of betrayal and threatens to guide Eloise with or without his approval. Though Nathaniel is devastated at the loss of their friendship, he battles with Devlin for years. As Eloise grows into a beautiful young woman, Nathaniel becomes even more vigilant, but when he discovers that Devlin's found a way to communicate with her, he goes into a fit of rage he never thought possible.

Does the angel look scared? Nah, he looks terrified.

It took me longer to write the prequel to Ominous Love dues to illness, but I'm so happy I managed to publish it on Valentine's Day.  (Book One) Ominous Love, has been available for over a year, but when readers asked for more history on the feuding guardian angels, I decided to write a prequel.

The prequel was supposed to be a Novelette, but ended up being a full novel and longer than Ominous Love, so I hope readers are happy with what I've done with it. I certainly had fun writing it, and I loved delving deeper into the psyche of the two angels, especially the main character.

Ominous Love
Available on Amazon

When sixteen-year-old Eloise's parents go away for two weeks, she's thrilled. She's looking forward to going to end-of-term parties with her friends. But strange sounds on the roof and outside her bedroom window at night have her too afraid to be alone in the rickety old house. Her boyfriend, Tom, isn't much help, he's only after one thing!

Things take an interesting turn with a surprise meeting on the beach. Who is this gorgeous boy, and where did he come from? Eloise never believed in love at first sight, but when this dreamboat touches her, she's consumed with a desire she's never known before. Still afraid of being alone at night, she invites the handsome stranger to stay with her while her parents are away. Though she melts in his arms when he kisses her, she wonders if she's making a huge mistake, after all, someone is stalking her every move, but who?

Ominous Angel (Book Two)
Coming soon!

I started writing Ominous Angel as soon as I'd finished Ominous Love, but after getting the request for a prequel, I put this one on hold. I'm so glad I did because now I know the history of the characters, and their relationship, it's turning out so much better than I thought it would and I can't wait to publish it.

Keep watching. I hope to have it ready by May.
